One deed leads to another - always.

The Hidden Chain Reaction in Your Life

I came across something this week that quietly shook me.

Imam Ibn Qayyim Al-Jawziyyah ر once wrote about how our actions - good or bad - never stop at one. They multiply. They grow.

A good deed isn’t just a moment of goodness. It invites another. And another. Before you know it, you’re drawn to khayr because your heart feels tight when you’re away from it.

But sins? They work the same way.

One slip makes it easier to fall again. And eventually, the soul (like a fish out of water) feels restless until it’s swimming in its old familiar current. A sinner doesn’t always return to sin because it’s pleasurable.
Sometimes, it’s because the distance from it feels like withdrawal.

And that’s what frightened me.

Because whether we realise it or not, every action plants a seed. A habit. A calling.

Your soul will eventually crave what you feed it most.

“Whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom’s weight of evil will see it.”

Al-Zalzalah 99:7-8

So ask yourself tonight:

  • What’s the one small good deed I can feed my soul with right now?

  • And what habit am I ignoring, thinking it’s harmless, while it slowly calls to it’s sister?

Because both goodness and sin multiply.
And the one you nourish… will become your companion in this life, and the next.

May Allah protect our hearts, ease our struggles, and make us people who love goodness until our souls find no rest without it. Ameen
