- One small deed, endless reward
One small deed, endless reward
The tiny act that erased a lifetime of sins
I want to tell you about a man
Not a scholar
Not a warrior
Not someone who spent his nights in long prayers
He was just… walking
The day wasn’t special
The road wasn’t beautiful
It was just an ordinary path
But then he saw it - a thorny branch lying across the way
He could’ve stepped over it
Pretended not to notice
Told himself, someone else will move it
That’s it
No announcement
No applause
No post about it online
But Allah saw it
And Allah forgave him
We often think reward in Islam comes only from the “big” things -
memorising Qur’an
fasting every day
donating thousands in charity
But this hadith (Bukhari and Muslim) is proof that Allah rewards even the smallest, simplest acts… when they’re done sincerely.
Think about it:
Picking up a stone from the masjid entrance so no one trips
Holding the door for someone carrying shopping bags
Sending a message to check on a friend who’s been quiet
The world might see these as “nothing”
But in Allah’s scale, sincerity can make nothing weigh more than mountains
And here’s the beautiful part - you’ll pass by dozens of opportunities like this every single day
It’s not about finding them
It’s about seeing them
Next time you’re walking, working, or even scrolling… look for your “thorny branch”
That tiny deed, hidden from everyone else, could be the very act Allah uses to write your name among the forgiven
Because sometimes, Jannah isn’t earned in a lifetime of action - it’s found in a single moment of sincerity
So what’s your thorny branch today?
And I’d love to hear form you
What’s the smallest good deed you’ve done this week, or even just witnessed?
